Local SEO Company for Small Businesses
Helps your business show up when people nearby search Google for what you do, in the normal results and on the map.
Most customers pick from the first few businesses Google shows them. Local SEO is the work that puts your business among them for the searches that matter in your town, so the calls and enquiries come to you rather than to a competitor.
This works the same way for businesses across the Thames Valley, including nearby in Guildford, Basingstoke and High Wycombe, and everywhere in between.

Best for
Businesses that win customers from a particular town or area.
What's included
- Making sure your main services and the towns you cover each have a proper page on your website
- Making your business name, address and phone number match everywhere online
- Getting your business mentioned and linked from relevant local websites
- Reporting on calls and enquiries in plain English
This is a draft scope. Say what you need and it can be tailored to your business.
How I work
- 1A short call first, with me directly, not a salesperson. I ask what you actually sell, who your customers are, and which towns bring in the work that matters, before I look at anything technical.
- 2I check what's actually stopping the phone ringing: your Google profile, your website, and how you compare with the businesses already showing up for the searches that matter to you.
- 3I tell you plainly what's worth doing and what isn't, in that order. If local SEO isn't the right fit for your business, I'll say so rather than sell it anyway.
- 4The work itself, then a plain-English update on what changed and what it meant for calls and enquiries, not a wall of jargon and graphs.
Problems I see most often
You don't show up for the searches that actually bring in customers, even though you rank fine for your own business name.
This is almost always down to relevance signals Google can't find: no page dedicated to the specific service or town, or a Google profile missing the category or service that matches what people actually type.
A competitor with a worse website and fewer years in business consistently appears above you.
Local rankings lean heavily on distance, activity and reviews, not just website quality. It's usually a completeness and consistency problem, your profile, your reviews, your listed details, rather than anything wrong with your site.
You've had a previous agency "do SEO" for months with nothing to show for it.
This is one of the most common things I hear, and it's exactly why the free audit exists: a plain, no-obligation look at what's actually been done and what it achieved, before you commit to anything further.
A note on timing
Demand for most trades and local services across the Thames Valley moves with the seasons: heating and roofing enquiries usually pick up from autumn, gardening and building work from spring. Local SEO doesn't create that seasonal demand, but a business that's properly set up beforehand is the one that actually captures it when it arrives, rather than watching a competitor take the calls.

Local SEO FAQs
What is the difference between local SEO and normal SEO?
Normal SEO tries to rank a website for searches from anywhere. Local SEO narrows that to the people who could actually become customers: someone typing "plumber in Reading" rather than "plumber". It leans more heavily on your Google Business Profile, your address details matching everywhere online, and pages built around the towns you actually serve, because those are the signals Google uses to decide who is genuinely local to a search.
How long does local SEO take to show results?
There is no fixed timescale, and anyone who promises one exact figure is guessing. Google needs time to trust new or changed pages, and the map results move as reviews and listings build up. Straightforward fixes, like correcting a wrong address or adding a missing service, can show up within weeks. Ranking for competitive searches in a busy town usually takes longer, and depends on how established your competitors already are.
Do I need a website for local SEO to work?
A website helps a lot but is not the whole picture. Your Google Business Profile can bring in calls on its own, especially through the map pack. That said, a website gives Google more to read about your business and gives customers somewhere to check you out properly before calling, so the two work best together rather than one replacing the other.
Will local SEO stop working if I stop paying for it?
Rankings built through genuine local SEO tend to hold up better than paid advertising, which stops the moment you stop paying. That said, SEO is not a one-off job: competitors keep publishing, review counts keep changing, and Google's own results shift over time, so a business that does nothing for a year usually slips back rather than staying exactly where it was.
Will I deal with you directly, or get passed to different people?
You'll deal with me directly. Simply Leads is a sole trader business, not a call centre with account handlers, so the person who does the work is the same person you speak to on the phone.
What if local SEO isn't actually what my business needs?
Then I'll tell you that, not sell you the service anyway. The free local SEO audit exists for exactly this reason: to look honestly at what's actually holding your enquiries back before recommending anything, including recommending nothing.
